Blogger Vs. Wordpress

Oh hello there blog. I promise I didn't forget about you or my dear readers.  Life is getting in the way!

But a topic that's been on my mind for awhile now, is taking the great Wordpress plunge.  I want to make the switch, or at least I think I do.  I like the "freedom" (of creativity) I heard Wordpress grants users.  But looking at Wordpress blogs, they are neater, cleaner, and even fancier than things I've seen on Blogger.  I also feel like there's some prestige using Wordpress, above blogger.

And while I do love this here blog, it's cluttered and lacking the ability to change.  It's a disorganized mess that I long to revamp and clean up.

I have two options: redesign this blog here on Blogger (long overdue), or make the jump to Wordpress.
Either way, nothing will happen until July (post-wedding).
And I'll be keeping the URL and site-name.

But first, I need help.
Readers, what should I do?
Do I stay, or do I go now?

Why do you love Wordpress or Blogger?

  2. WordPress all the way and forever! I can't say enough good things about WordPress, and even if you paid me I don't think I would ever go back to Blogger.

PS, if you need any help when you switch over I'd be more than willing to lend a hand!

  4. I had a blogspot and just switched this week to wordpress... I must say it is AMAZING and so much better and easier. Do it, once you get the hang of it (if it takes you any time at all) you will love it and your site will look great too

  5. After considering it for months, I made the switch to Wordpress from Blogger two weeks ago. And I agree, I will totally never go back! The plugin capabilities alone are worth it! And the SEO is phenomenal (blogger doesn't get very good Google search ranking for the most part, which is strange since they are owned by Google now). If you do make the switch, I'm more than happy to suggest some amazing plugins and a pretty sweet free theme that allows MAJOR editing flexibilty for the design (I'm using it on my new blog - http://www.LEXoxo.com/blog if you want to check it out). If you have ANY questions you can feel free to email me!! Lex (at) LEXoxo (dot) com

  6. Guess I'm the only Blogger fan (thus far anyway). I tried Wordpress but it gave me a headache. Blogger is just easier for me and I don't feel boxed in with it. I've been with blogger for 8 years now and I won't be ditching anytime soon.

  8. I made the switch almost exactly a year ago. And like most have said, I wouldn't go back. A few reasons - themes and widgets are simple clean and easy to use. SEO is almost done for you - it gives you suggestions and you can add to them if you like. There's always new themes to try - or if you want to edit the CSS you can. But the biggest reason I heart Wordpress - the comments. I detest Blogger's comment system. When I select my profile in a few seconds and click post comment I will need to refresh the page like 4 times before it will give me the "are you a computer word" then another couple times before I can send it. It's REALLY annoying. Wordpress checks for spam and I've found the accuracy is incredibly high. So high actually that I don't moderate comments anymore - that is I don't make WP wait for me to approve them before they go up. It is brilliant - do it. DO IT NOW!

  10. If you want to play around in Wordpress, I can give you logins to alicia.pachucki.com and you can knock yourself out on the back-end. It's funnnnnn and you can't mess anything on that site up (since I don't do squat with it).

Also, I have a friend at eatwatchrun.com that switched and has a handy importer to recommend that can make it 90% painless.

  11. I am still with Blogger. I don't know anything about wordpress really. I've never had any problems with Blogger to warrant a switch.

  12. I actually have a wordpress account and I have tried, several times, to make the switch. But it just seems so damn complicated and I just don't have the time to deal with it right now.
Maybe I'll switch once I'm done school and my life as slowed down a bit. But for right now I'm sticking with blogger.
